(RED VINYL)THE NATIONAL's "Cherry Tree" is a red vinyl 10" pressing of the band's rare 2004 EP. The National inhabit a space somewhere between Nick Cave, Red House Painters, the songwriting of Leonard Cohen and, at times, even the stellar moments of Uncle Tupelo that is all dismantled, skewed and reassembled into a sort of alt-country meets chamber-pop concoction that doesn't disappoint.

Upon the release of their sophomore album, 2003's "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers," the band emerged onto a larger stage. At under thirty minutes "Cherry Tree" is an EP, a mini-LP, or a bridge to the future. It features five new songs and two bonus tracks, including a live performance on France Inter radio and a trans-oceanic duet with Clogs' Padma Newsome. Fans of their most recent release, 2007's THE BOXER, will not be disappointed.
